The Driftless Seed Project hosts celebrated writer, speaker and educator Diane Wilson for a discussion about our relationships over time with the foods that have sustained us and the landscapes that have nurtured us –using corn, one of our closest seed relatives, as a case study. She will follow its evolution from Native gardens to contemporary farming and the emergence of GMOs, including work being done by American Indian organizations to reclaim indigenous seeds as a community resource. Diane Wilson is a Mdewakanton Dakota enrolled on the Rosebud Reservation. She is the former Executive Director for the Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance, a national coalition of tribes and organizations working to create sovereign food systems for Native people. She is also the author of several award-winning books, including the recently published novel “The Seed Keeper.” Read more about Wilson and her work here: https://www.dianewilsonwords.com/ For more information, call 608-437-6486. Made possible by Mount Horeb Community Foundation.
