Välkommen till Fall Swedish Music & Dance Weekend 2022! This festival features workshops in fiddle, nyckelharpa, and dance; evening parties; catered meals; old traditions; and special guests sharing Swedish culture and heritage. This year marks 47 years since Edwin Johnson and his family first came to Folklore Village. The Johnson family's tradition of sharing Swedish folk music at Folklore Village continues through Edwin's grandson and National Heritage Fellow Paul Dahlin. Paul will be joined this year by his family and friends for workshops exploring Swedish folk tunes. Dance workshops will be lead by Roo Lester, a foremost expert of Scandinavian folk dance in the United States. Workshops in nyckelharpa round out the weekend, with Swedish nyckelharpa scholar Becky Weis leading intermediate and advanced workshops, and experienced musician DoAnn Holzman teaching beginning workshops. Early-bird full-time tuition is $235, and scholarhips and part-time options are available.
