Join us at Brix Cider for a Sunday afternoon with not just any Ad Hoc String Band; this is THE Ad Hoc String Band. They'll play a fun mix of tunes from blues and bluegrass to folk and folk rock and probably a few outliers.
AHSB fun fact: The band earned their name from a happenstance performance during the 2011 political uprising and occupation in Madison, WI. Mark and Brian played an impromptu set of music on a Thursday night in the occupied State Capitol Building. They went there with Banjoist Mark Schlutt (of Oak Street Ramblers fame) and were quickly joined by a guitar player and percussionist. This spontaneous quintet played almost an hour set. A day or two later, a blogger had blogged that an "Ad Hoc String Band" had formed to play for the crowd. A band name was born! The group has evolved since then, but the name prevails.
Come on out for good food, good drink, and live music!
