MOUNT HOREB, Wi., [February 7, 2023] – In recognition of the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce’s 100th anniversary, Executive Director Rachel LaCasse-Ford accepted a Certificate of Special Senatorial Recognition from US Senator Ron Johnson (WI-R), presented by the senator’s Regional Director Tawsif Anam.

The Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1923 by a group of area businessmen who wanted to help promote the village and its local businesses. Originally called the Mt. Horeb Advancement Association, the organization’s charter was to “promote the general welfare of Mt. Horeb and the Community.” It changed its name in 1929 and became known as the Mt. Horeb Chamber of Commerce and took part in many key events impacting the community over the past 100 years, including the creation of Stewart Lake County Park, advocating for local businesses during the construction of the 18/151 by-pass, the development of the “Troll” theme for the community, and more.

At just over 250 members, the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce is poised to grow as the community continues to develop. “We are so excited about what the future holds,” says LaCasse-Ford. “There are many new businesses moving into the area, and there are even more businesses in surrounding communities who want to do business in the area, and the chamber offers many opportunities for networking and exposure that can help these businesses and organizations achieve their goals.”

The chamber continues to leverage the strong tourism brand that has been the focus of the chamber’s work over the past several decades. “We are still benefitting from the work that was done for many years developing Mount Horeb as a tourist destination,” explains LaCasse-Ford. “So now our job is to continue that important work while expanding our services to our members and advocating on behalf of the business community.”

The chamber will celebrate their 100-year milestone at their upcoming 5th Annual Awards Dinner on March 2 at Martinson Hall. Tickets can be purchased on the chamber’s website. Additional celebrations are planned throughout the year.
