Jessie Bedward Joins Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce Staff in Newly-Created Role
MOUNT HOREB, Wi., [December 20, 2021]
— The Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the hiring of Jessie Bedward as full-time Events Manager. Bedward comes to the role with two decades of experience in hospitality, tourism, management, and event coordination.
The Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce runs many of the large annual events in the Village of Mount Horeb, including the Art Fair, Fall Village Market, Thirsty Troll Brew Fest, and Witches’ Night Out. Between visitor-focused events like these and other member-focused events, the Chamber hosts an annual event every month of the calendar year.
Soon after joining the Chamber staff in March of 2021, now Executive Director Rachel LaCasse-Ford realized that events took up a significant amount of every employee’s time: “It became very clear that we need one staff member whose primary role is managing these events, ensuring that deadlines are met, committees are being led, vendors are being taken care of, promotional materials are getting pushed out, and all of the little details that go into putting on these events are attended to.” LaCasse-Ford emphasizes, “While we all support one another and do whatever needs to get done, the goal with creating this new role is to allow each of our employees to maintain a steady focus on our unique roles within the organization, which will allow all of us to perform the important duties that support our organization’s overarching strategic objectives.”
Bedward and LaCasse-Ford have a significant amount of history working together. Bedward was Assistant General Manager at the GrandStay Hotel & Suites for the same number of years Rachel LaCasse-Ford was General Manager. “Jessie and I hit it off right away,” remembers LaCasse-Ford. “Jessie has a personality that every manager dreams of finding: she cares about her work and the people she works with; she dedicates herself entirely to the organization; and she works harder than anyone I know to further the organization’s mission.”
After nearly seven years at the GrandStay, Bedward felt she was ready for a career change. She began interviewing in the area, and when she read about the job opportunity at the Chamber she was immediately intrigued. “This is a new position,” says Bedward, “and I’m excited to help build it.” She looks forward to working with LaCasse-Ford again. “We work really well together and I’m excited to take on this new challenge.”
The Chamber staff will now be made up of a full-time executive director (Rachel LaCasse-Ford), a full-time events manager (Jessie Bedward), and a part-time office administrator (Kathy Arnold).
