Hart House Guitars celebrated their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, October 9. Owner Corey Matthew Hart was joined by friends, family and community members, as well as members of the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and members of the Mount Horeb Village Board.

Hart explains that he has always love music, and fondly recalls his family listen to Paul Simon and James Taylor albums growing up. Around the age of 8, Hart new he wanted to play guitar, when his aunt’s boyfriend, visiting on college spring break, played the Simon and Garfunkel song “Cecelia” for him. “That the first I remember anyone I knew personally being able to play guitar, and it was I song I knew and loved!” Hart’s mom tried to get him guitar lessons, but was told he was too young. Finally at the age of 12, Corey began taking guitar lessons, quickly formed a band, and began writing and performing music. In his early 20’s, Hart took a break from playing in bands in order to complete a luthier (guitar repair) program in Red Wing, MN. Since then, Hart has been performing, teaching privately, and repairing guitars for friends and students. In the last few years, Corey has taken to building amps and pedals, deepening his love of the all things guitar. After recently losing his job, Hart decided that it was time to bring all of his musical passions together, and open up Hart House Guitars in downtown Mount Horeb. His aim is to be not only a local shop for area players, but a resource to the community, offering repairs, lessons, and children’s classes.

Hart House Guitars of sales of new/used guitars, amps, pedals, and accessories, as well as repairs and lessons. Nestled in downtown Mount Horeb, and occupying the first floor of a house on Main Street, Hart House Guitars feels immediately welcoming, becoming guests to make themselves feel at home. “We are so thrilled to have Hart House Guitars join our Main Street,” says Rachel LaCasse-Ford, Executive Director of the Mount Horeb Area Chamber of Commerce. “Corey is a first-time business owner and he is jumping in with both feet, getting involved in Chamber events and serving on committees. This desire to build connections with other business owners is exactly what fuels downtown Mount Horeb’s vibrancy.”
