    Located just 15 minutes west of Madison, WI, Mount Horeb Telephone Company, dba MHTC, is in search of a Network/IT Specialist that is energetic, self-directed and enjoys the challenge of IT. This individual will work directly with our IT support team, assisting internal and external customers.

We are looking for a network leader who can think for themselves, possesses the ability to see multiple paths and has the desire and drive to arrive at the best possible solution.

    Here’s how you will contribute:
    • Evaluate networking hardware devices and software
    • Troubleshoot and support internal IP networks
    • Learn, operate, and maintain IP network solutions delivering IP network data and voice to deployed customer access networks utilizing fixed wireless, xDSL and FTTX technologies
    • Configure, implement, maintain and troubleshoot network connectivity hardware
    • Assist with the configuration, implementation of LAN servers, user PC’s, and network connectivity hardware
    • Evaluate, maintain and/or improve network security and standards
    • Develop and document system standards for networks and customer premise equipment
    • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades
    • Provide technical assistance to Network and Operations groups 24 x 7, as needed

    • Technical degree in an IT related field or equivalent experience
    • Excellent communication, analytical and time management skills
    • Ability to work cohesively with other team members company-wide and promote a positive attitude
    • Valid drivers license for work related travel
    • Knowledge of networking infrastructure (wired and wireless) including implementation and maintenance of VLANs (required)
    • Manufacturer specific knowledge a plus (Adtran and Cisco)
    • Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols (required)
    • Knowledge of server operating systems, Microsoft Windows servers & workstations, and Linux
    • Knowledge of hypervisor environments, Hyper-V and ProxMox
    • Knowledge of GIS
