In this explorative, science-based and hands-on workshop participants will push the boundaries of what it takes to adapt to and survive in harsh environments – from scalding heat in the desert to inhabiting planet Mars! In addition to an experienced workshop instructor, students will engage with professionals in related fields. Guest speakers will include a space ambassador and a planetary senior scientist working with Rover on Mars; both share their insights on the planet Mars. A local expert from the Department of Natural Resources will discuss basic survival skills and shelter building techniques. Students will also engage with architecture students at Taliesin, to hear their stories of building desert shelters in Arizona at Taliesin West.
